Almost every trip planning mistake starts here. A booking site sells nights, an employer approves days, an insurer covers a period, and a tour operator counts arrival day as day one even if you land at midnight. Getting the numbers straight before you book saves a scramble for a last night bed at a bad price.
Weekend days are worth checking too. Shifting a departure by one day often turns four days of leave into a nine day trip across two weekends. That single change is the cheapest upgrade in travel.

+Is a seven day trip seven nights?
No. Leaving on Saturday and coming back the following Saturday is eight days and seven nights. Hotels bill nights, annual leave is counted in days, and the mismatch is why people end up a night short.
+How do I count Schengen days?
Both the day you enter and the day you leave count as full days, and the limit is ninety days in any rolling one hundred and eighty. The tool shows the days figure to use in that sum.
+Should I count travel days as holiday?
Treat the departure and arrival days as half days for planning. A flight that lands at nine at night is not a day of sightseeing, and building an itinerary that assumes it is guarantees a bad first evening.
+How long is the ideal trip?
For a city, three to four nights. For a country, ten to fourteen. For a region, three weeks or more with a slow week in the middle. Shorter trips lose too much time to airports.
